Terms of Service

The terms and conditions governing use of our services and website.

Last updated: 1 January 2025

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the services provided by Slate & Ivy Property Services Ltd ("Company", "we", "us", "our"). By requesting or using our plumbing and property maintenance services, or by using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. About Us

Slate & Ivy Property Services Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales. Our registered address is 33 Strutton Ground, London, England, SW1P 2HY. You can contact us at info@slateivypropertyservices.shop or +44 7735 387809.

2. Services

We provide professional plumbing and property maintenance services including, but not limited to, emergency leak repair, pipe installation and repair, bathroom and kitchen plumbing, hot water cylinder maintenance, and scheduled landlord maintenance contracts. The specific scope of each service is confirmed at the time of booking or quotation.

We reserve the right to refuse a service request at our discretion, including where access to the property cannot be arranged, where the scope of work exceeds our service offering, or where health and safety risks are identified on site.

3. Quotations and Pricing

All prices listed on our website represent the starting price for the stated scope of work. Final pricing will be confirmed in writing via a quotation before any work commences. Prices are inclusive of labour but may exclude specialist parts or materials unless otherwise stated. We will always notify you of any additional costs before proceeding with work.

Quotations are valid for 14 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to amend pricing if the nature or scope of the work changes following initial assessment.

4. Booking and Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once we have sent you a written confirmation (by email or text message) of the appointment date, time, and agreed price. We will use reasonable endeavours to attend at the agreed time. We will contact you as soon as possible if we are unable to attend due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

5. Access and Site Conditions

You are responsible for ensuring that our engineers have safe and adequate access to the property and the relevant areas within it. This includes clearing reasonable access routes and ensuring that utilities (water, electricity) are available where required. Failure to provide adequate access may result in a call-out charge being applied. We are not liable for delays or inability to complete works caused by poor site conditions that were not disclosed at the time of booking.

6. Payment Terms

Payment is due upon satisfactory completion of the agreed work unless a credit account or staged payment plan has been agreed in advance. We accept bank transfer (BACS), debit card, and credit card. We will provide a VAT invoice upon completion of each job. Late payment may result in interest charges being applied in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

7. Workmanship Guarantee

We guarantee all workmanship carried out by our engineers for a period of 12 months from the date of completion, subject to the following conditions:

  • The fault or failure is directly attributable to our workmanship and not to third-party interference, misuse, or circumstances beyond our control
  • The property has not been subject to further works by other contractors that affect the completed plumbing
  • The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by freezing, or failures arising from pre-existing defects not identified at the time of our work

Parts and materials supplied by us are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, where applicable.

8. Liability

We carry public liability insurance. Our liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the value of the contract for that specific job. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses. We are not liable for pre-existing conditions in the property's plumbing system that were not within the agreed scope of our work.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

9. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the property and the nature of the plumbing issue when making a booking
  • Ensure that an adult (aged 18 or over) is present at the property during our visit
  • Notify us promptly of any concerns with our workmanship within the guarantee period
  • Pay invoices by the due date
  • Not attempt to carry out further works to the affected plumbing system without notifying us first, where a guarantee claim is pending

10. Cancellation

Please refer to our Refund Policy for full details of our cancellation terms. In summary: cancellations with more than 24 hours' notice are accepted at no charge. Same-day cancellations may incur a call-out fee. Emergency callouts that are cancelled while our engineer is en route will be charged a call-out fee.
